Lethal TPD programs will not be freed from the hands of the teachers service commission, TSC. This occurs at a time when the National Assembly has temporarily halted the program pending the fulfillment of certain requirements by the employer of the teachers.
Teachers who attended the recently concluded phase 1 CBC training were surprised when the trainers of trainers began teaching them about TPD, the costs that will be incurred, the incentives, and the action that will be taken against perpetrators, although they had forgotten about TPD and the possibility of implementing it soon.
Everything now points to TPD becoming the new standard for teachers.
There was a lot of information gathered during the training about CBC workshops. During a school holiday, the workshop will run for five days.
Webinars that can be viewed online: Online professional learning will take place during the second and third school vacations each year for five days (simultaneously)
Modules that are required to be completed
All seven KePTS standards will be addressed in six modules, each with five chapters.
When teachers enroll in the Introductory Module, they will be given a year to complete the course.
During the Introductory Module, you will participate in an online webinar.
Providers of TPD Services that Have Been Accredited
TPD service providers must be registered and recognized by the Commission in order to provide services that address the seven KePTS.
The following categories of TPD service providers will be recognized by the Commission:
Teachers’ training programs mandated by the government fall into this category. At least one of the seven KePTS must be incorporated into their TPD learning outcomes.
Non-State actors who collaborate with the Commission fall into this category. TPD outcomes must be linked to at least one of the KePTS
Organizations in this category were chosen through a process of competitive tendering. All seven standards will be covered by the modules prescribed by the Commission.
For the services they provide, Category 3 TPD service providers will charge a fee. Teachers will be charged an annual fee of KSH 6,000, which must be paid to the TPD service provider.
A service provider of a teacher’s choosing is expected.
Kenyatta University is one of the four accredited service providers in category
Kenya Education Management Institute and Riara University of Nairobi (KEMI)
A competitive procurement process will be used to select more category 3 service providers in 2023
