Safaricom Warns Customers on Falling Into Fuliza MPESA Scammers

The biggest telecommunication network (safaricom) has warned it’s customers on unscrupulous dealers using Fuliza to steal from the public. The company warned the subscribers to be watchful of some people who claim to know how to increase their Fuliza limit.

In an SMS by safaricom, there is a warning stating that, we should be cautious and not to listen to texts or calls from fraudsters who claim to have the ability to increase your fuliza limit.In case you get such a text, you should report the sender by sending a message to 333.

A number of people through social media channels like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and telegram, have been defrauding the public by cheating the O how they can increase their limits.

For you to have your limit increased, you must pay a fee of a certain amount according to the limit you want. For customers to gain trust from these scammers, there are people collaborating with them who comment positively on their posts.

The concern came after someone posed a question on his twitter handle seeking clarity whether he can give out money (bribe) inorder his limit to be increased.

Safaricom disputed his statement and said, for someone to have his limit increased, one should continue using the service for them to qualify.

According to sources, ones the fraudsters receive the fee from customers, they disappear with the money without increasing the limit as agreed. This is after someone testified on twitter how his friend lost Ksh2,000 to a guy who promised to increase his limit to ksh50,000 in a span of one minute.

These scammers have been busy asking subscribers to join their groups on WhatsApp and telegram so that they can facilitate the increase.

All safaricom subscribers have Ben urged to forward and report those phone numbers belonging to scammers to 333 so that they can be blocked and investigated.
