To address the acute teacher shortage in schools, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a mass recruitment drive.
To fill the positions left vacant by teachers who left the service due to attrition, the commission has declared 5,000 vacancies and an additional 8,230 positions.
3,972 of the hired teachers will be assigned to various secondary schools to help with the President Uhuru Kenyatta-initiated 100% transition policy. 28 tutors will be assigned to teacher training colleges, while 1,000 teachers will be posted to primary schools. They will be recruited under permanent and pensionable terms.
The recruitment drive will apply affirmative action targeting schools in Mandera, Garissa, and Wajir counties.
