DIRECTIVES FOR SUPERVISORS, TEACHERS, AND CANDIDATES

Candidates must carefully follow these guidelines

CANDIDATES’ GUIDELINES

Verify that each page of your exam is printed.

CANDIDATES GUIDELINES

Except with the Supervisor’s consent, you may not leave the assessment room before the paper’s due date. CANDIDATES PERMITTED TO LEAVE MUST RETURN WITH THEIR QUESTION PAPER OR ANSWER SHEET/SCRIPT.

Don’t leave a sheet of paper or your answers where another contestant can read them.

You must not give or receive unfair aid, whether by copying or other means, and your work must not disclose evidence of such unfair assistance.

During the assessment, no communication between applicants or with outsiders is permitted.

There are no materials allowed in the assessment room save the right question papers and materials expressly authorized by the Kenya National Examinations Council.

All smudged, incorrect, or poorly printed questions must be returned to the Supervisor.

No used or unused paper may be removed from the exam room. Do your rough work on the official question paper.

Disruption or misconduct in or near the assessment room will be viewed as an irregularity.

Phones and other electronic devices are not permitted in testing facilities. In the event that an electronic communication device is found, the candidate’s results will be voided

PENALTY FOR IRREGULAR ASSESSMENT

In cases of assessment irregularities, the KNEC Act No. 29 of 2012 Offences and Penalties would apply. Among the highlights of these sections are:

If a candidate cheats on any paper, the results for the WHOLE SUBJECT will be canceled. This candidate will not receive a subject result. This will appear as (00).

If widespread anomalies are discovered in any assessment centre, the entire centre’s results will be void.

Section 27 of the Act punishes anybody who: a) acquires access to assessment material and willfully discloses the contents to an unauthorized party, whether or not a candidate;

b) wilfully and maliciously damages assessment material is punishable by up to five years imprisonment or a fine of up to five million shillings, or both.

Unregistered candidates who present or attempt to present themselves for a KNEC assessment are in violation of Section 31 of the Act and are subject to a two-year jail term or a two-million-shilling fine, or both. Unregistered candidates are also subject to a three-year ban from taking any assessment conducted by or on behalf of the Council.

To prevent having your results canceled, please do not commit any evaluation irregularities.
