It is a great disbelief as Egerton University has put on notice that over 70 per cent of it’s properties will be auctioned.

According to the notice, the institution has given a list of properties that will be auctioned.Among them being, goats, ICT equipments, cows that cost ksh50,000 each, motor vehicle spare parts, catering equipment and bulls that are worth Ksh80, 000 for each.

It further indicated that, people who have interest in participating in the auction exercise, can go view properties at Njoro Campus as well as Kenyatta Campus on given dates.

The first round of the auction process is set to begin on Wednesday, March 9 at Chemeron Field Station which is in Baringo County whereas the second round of the exercise will be held on Monday, March 14, at the main campus.

How To Take Part

The interested parties are therefore required to pay a Ksh50, 000 deposit that is refundable for each motor vehicle and a deposit of Ksh10, 000 for other items. They are advised to pay the money in form of bankers cheque so that they can be given a bidding number.

After given the bidding number, the bidders are urged to carry the deposit slip on the public Auction date.

After the exercise is done, the purchasers are expected to deposit 25 per cent of the buying price of the item directly to the university’s bank account as the business will be closed on the day of auction.

The other remaining amount will be expected to be deposited to the same bank by the 14th day from the auction date whereby those who fail will have their money including the deposit penalized.

The University further said that neither the institution nor the auctioneer shall be responsible for the condition of the goods since every bidder is supposed to view the goods before purchasing it on the auction date.
